Three outstanding Hungarian university students were selected as winners of the "Dr. Elemer Kiss Scholarship Program" for the 2005-2006 academic year.
The scholarship recipients are:

Mr. János Américo Barbero, a full time student at the University of Washington in Seattle, studying mathematics and computer sciences. This exceptionally gifted student has already been the recipient of three scholarship awards. He expects to graduate with a dual degree in two years' time.

Mr. Zoltán Hardi, from Eger, Hungary, who will earn a B.A. in Economics and International Relations at Winona State University, Minnesota in January 2006.

Ms. Nora Németh, from Budapest, Hungary, who is studying at the Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Mr. Barbero received a $2,000 award, while Mr. Hardi and Ms. Németh received $500 each.
The "Dr. Elemer Kiss Scholarship Program" was established as a special memorial scholarship by the family and friends of Dr. Elemer Kiss, of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Dr. Kiss, a member of the Coalition since its founding in 1991, left Hungary after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, and settled with his family in Maryland. He demonstrated a life-long commitment to education both in Hungary and in the United States.
The Hungarian American Coalition first established its Scholarship Fund in 1997, in response to requests from a large number of Hungarian students who gained acceptance to American colleges and universities, but needed additional financial assistance to complete their studies. Since then, the Coalition has provided partial scholarships to 2-4 outstanding Hungarian students each year for full-time study in the United States.
