56 STORIES: RECOLLECTIONS OF THE HUNGARIAN REVOLUTION

Book Launch Event Planned in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. - November 10, 2006

On Monday, November 13 at 6:30 PM, the Hungarian American Coalition will hold a book launch party at the Kossuth House, Washington, D.C. The book entitled 56 Stories is a collection of personal testimonials from participants in and observers of the 1956 Revolution of Hungary.

The book is published by Lauer Learning, an educational, multimedia company focusing on Hungarian and American educational issues. In this 50th anniversary year, the Hungarian American Coalition and Lauer Learning worked together to collect these stories from 1956 survivors and their family members through the www.FreedomFighter56.com oral history website. The goal of this project was to ensure that not only the personal stories, but the very spirit of 1956 is passed on to future generations.

The book contains 65 personal stories, each of which provides a different perspective or a unique personal recollection about 1956, through the eyes of Hungarian-Americans. 56 Storiesis available in Hungarian or English.

At the book launch, Washington-area contributors to this book will be present and personally read their testimonials, including Co-Editor and Contributor, Mrs. Edith K. Lauer, Chairman Emerita of the Coalition.
